Welcome to the Heart of Camel City's Most Beloved Street
Burke Street in Winston-Salem is more than just an address — it's a lifestyle. One of the most eclectic and walkable corridors in the entire Triad, Burke Street winds through the Historic West End neighborhood and pulses with local energy seven nights a week. Dive Bar Winston-Salem sits right in the mix at 1311 Burke St., bringing its signature brand of affordable, no-ego fun to one of North Carolina's most culturally rich cities.
The Neighborhood Burke Street is anchored by independent shops, beloved neighborhood restaurants, and bars that have become institutions. The street sits near the edge of the Downtown Arts District — bounded by Trade and Liberty streets — which is home to galleries, working artist studios, and the popular Art Crush street fair held every third Friday from April through December. The nearby Truist Stadium, home to the Winston-Salem Dash (a minor league baseball affiliate), has been a catalyst for development along Burke Street and Brookstown Avenue since it opened in 2010.
A Brief History Winston-Salem earned its nickname "Camel City" from the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, whose iconic Camel cigarettes put the city on the map. The RJ Reynolds Building downtown, completed in 1929, actually served as the design inspiration for the Empire State Building — now reimagined as the gorgeous Kimpton Cardinal Hotel. Winston-Salem's Arts District has deep roots too, with Piedmont Craftsmen, one of the South's oldest fine craft organizations, anchoring the creative scene for more than 50 years. The city is known today as "North Carolina's City of Arts and Innovation."
Parking Burke Street offers convenient on-street parking along both sides of the block. Additional parking is available in nearby surface lots, and the broader downtown area has numerous public parking options, many free in the evenings. The neighborhood is also walkable from several West End and downtown residential blocks.
What Makes This Location Unique Dive Bar Winston-Salem is family-friendly until 8 PM, then transitions into one of Burke Street's most energetic nightlife spots. Weekly Line Dancing nights (Tuesdays) have become a signature event — one of the most fun nights out in all of the Triad. With pool tables, arcade games, darts, karaoke, and a packed calendar of events, this location captures both the arts-loving soul of Winston-Salem and the affordable, welcoming spirit that defines Dive Bar.
